Firm Client Sues LexisNexis For Faulty Data Collection
A firm client has brought class action claims under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act against LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Inc. for its faulty work as a “data broker.” The Complaint alleges that LexisNexis does not double-check a person’s identity, does not confirm that it the person to whom it ascribes certain information has the correct Social Security number, address, middle name and driver’s license. In the filed case, LexisNexis ascribed a motor vehicle accident to the son of the Plaintiff and reported that accident to Plaintiff’s family automobile liability insurer, which resulted in significant insurance premium increases. In fact, the accident involved a person unrelated to Plaintiff and his son.
